When he is not working on “Yellowstone” and his spin-offs, the screenwriter Taylor Sheridan works on the writing of other successful series completely independent of his Western universe.
His name is forever linked to Yellowstone. And yet, the work of Taylor Sheridan is not just limited to the Western series. Former actor converted into a screenwriter, the latter obtained his first successes in the cinema with the films Sicario and Comancheria, then with Wind River that he himself staged.
Since 2018, it has been on television that Taylor Sheridan continued his career as a screenwriter. The success met by Yellowstone has already enabled two prequal to see the light of day: 1883 and 1923. Four other spin-offs are also expected: The Madison, 1944, Y: Marshals and a new series centered on RIP and Beth.
A screenwriter who likes to surround himself with very big names
This should occupy the scriptwriter well, especially since he is used to writing or co-writing all the episodes of series (and making some). And yet, Taylor Sheridan also works on other successful series having no connection with the Yellowstone universe. This is particularly the case with Tulsa King, his series with Sylvester Stallone.
This program sees Sly embodying a New York mafia exiled to the depths of the United States by its clan. He therefore decides to build his own empire of crime there to take revenge on his own, not without attracting the hostility of local mafia. After two successful seasons, a third came into shooting for a broadcast scheduled by the end of the year.
Oscar -winning actress Zoe Saldana also holds one of the main roles in the Lioness series: special operations which also sees Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman appear. This program follows the adventures of an elite unit of women responsible for dismantling terrorist networks.
In a more police register, the Mayor of Kingstown series stages Jeremy Renner in the main role of a mediator responsible for ensuring peace between local gangs and the police. Three seasons have already emerged, and a fourth was officially ordered.
Cap on Texas for the new successful series of Taylor Sheridan
More recently, the first season of Landman met with a great success of audiences. This series taking place in the universe of oil companies in Texas stages Billy Bob Thornton in the role of an old cynical cowboy. Season 2 is currently filming, and there is no doubt that others will be born.
Finally, let's not forget the Western Lawmen anthology, the first season of which was devoted to the history of the first Marshal Noir Bass Reeves. Originally, this program was supposed to be a spin-off of Yellowstone before it was ultimately decided to make it an independent series. Unfortunately, we do not know if a season 2 will see the light of day, nor on what other west personality this new season would be devoted.
