When the Western series “1923”, the second prequel of “Yellowstone”, will it be available on Netflix?
A third Yellowstone series will soon join Netflix. Last March, the platform put online the first four seasons of the Western series worn by Kevin Costner, as well as his mini-series prequired 1883. The two programs were very successful with subscribers, and remained in the top 10 of the most seen series on Netflix for several consecutive weeks.
It has been announced that the second prequel of Yellowstone entitled 1923 will be available on the platform from next July. Only the first season of the program will be offered. The series features Jacob Dutton (Harrison Ford), James Dutton's brother who was the 1883 protagonist but did not appear in this new production.
The future of Yellowstone was already threatened in 1923
Without a child, the old man is preparing to ensure the succession by giving up the reins of the Ranch to his nephews. But an attack by rivals costs John Dutton's life (which we saw as a child in the mini-series 1883) and leaves Jacob seriously injured.
His wife Cara (Helen Mirren) then wrote to their youngest nephew Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar) to ask him to join them as quickly as Montana, since he lives in Africa. But in 1923, such a journey requested time and many fatal dangers will stand on the road to the young man …
The most expensive Yellowstone series
1923 is one of the more expensive series ever produced, with a budget of around $ 30 million per episodes. An exorbitant cost which is explained in particular by the XXL salary of its stars ($ 1 million per episode each for Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren), but also by its filming in natural sets in several African countries.
The arrival of 1923 from July 9 on Netflix therefore allows the Yellowstone franchise to be almost entirely assembled on the platform. Only the last season of the main series is missing, and the second season of 1923 broadcast earlier in the year: both are now exclusively on Paramount+.
