The country's disaster management agency said on Friday that the highly active Volcan de Fuego or Fire Volcano in Guatemala is spewing ash and lava, and forced to withdraw more than 500 people.
About 1,200 meters long is descending from a lava flow crater, declared on the National Institute for Sisamology, Volcano, Meteorological and Water Science Social Media Platform X. The Ashfall can be 50 km from the volcano.
The Volcan de Fuego, about 3,800 meters high, is located about 40 kilometers in the south-west of the capital Guatemala City, and is one of the most active volcanoes in Central America. During a violent explosion in 2018, hundreds of people lost their lives.
