Tonight on TV: this is one of the best comedies in the history of French cinema

Every day, Allociné recommends a film to (re) see on TV. Tonight: this film is a real size in terms of French comedies!

If you have never seen the city of fear, you have the opportunity to make up for your delay this evening. This film, released at the cinema in 1994 and directed by Alain Berberian, a long -standing companion of dummies, is considered a pure timeless in the cinematographic landscape in France.

Nowadays, during the Cannes Film Festival. Odile Deray, press secretary, folds in four to promote his horror film of series B: Red Is Dead. He tells the story of a steelmaker who murdered his victims with a hammer and a sickle. After each projection, and with a regularity of metronome, a killer commits murders in the same way as in the film.

Odile Deray sees in these crimes an incredible chance of promoting Red Is Dead. Thus, taking advantage of this craze of the press around the case, she brought in Cannes the main interpreter of the film, Simon Jérémi, protected by her bodyguard, Serge Karamazov. But in Cannes fever, with a free killer, a crooked politician and a commissioner obsessed with the media, Odile, Simon and Kara will have to play elbows to arrive intact to the steps of the Grand Palais …

In the cast of this cult comedy, we find the troop of Dummies: Alain Chabat in the skin Serge Karamazov, Chantal Lauby who plays Odile Deray, and Dominique Farrugia who lends his features to Simon Jérémi.

They are accompanied by other well-known actors: the late Jean-Pierre Bacri, Gérard Darmon, Sam Karmann, Hélène de Fougerolles or Eddy Mitchell. A high -flying cast for a film that has become a great classic of French cinema.

The comic genius of dummies

Noted 4 out of 5 by the Internet users of Allociné, The City of Fear is considered one of the best comedies in France. It must be said that its absurd dialogues, its gags, or its cinematographic references continue to amuse generations of spectators, and this, more than thirty years after its exit to the cinema.

The film ofAlain Berberian is a traditional anti-comedy which uses a humor specific to dummies, that is to say voluntarily non-self. We obviously retain all funny situations, but also unforgettable dialogues, like: “Do you want a whiskey? No, just a finger. You don't want a whiskey first?” Or When I'm happy, I'm vomiting, and there, I'm super happy “.

We also think of one of the most famous replicas: “We can deceive once a thousand people, but we cannot deceive a person a person a thousand times …“which, even today, remains impossible to pronounce for its interpreter, Sam Karmann.

Besides his deliciously wacky humor, The City of Fear Also multiplies winks and cinematographic parodies, such as Terminator, when a person asks Sarah Connor by hitting the door, or Basic Instinct during Odile's interrogation. What cause bursts of laughter among experienced movies!

Tonight on Gulli at 9:05 p.m.
