Every day, Allociné recommends a film to (re) see on TV. Tonight: this magnificent animated film will soon have the right to a live action adaptation.
In 2010, fans of the best-seller How to Train Your Dragon of the British writer Cressida COWELL saw their dream speak: a cinematic adaptation. Entitled Dragons en VF, this animated film is directed by Chris Sanders and Dean Deblois (who have already worked together on Lilo & Stitch).
Dragons Tells the wonderful story of Harold, a young Viking who does not always feel in his place in his tribe where to fight the dragons is national sport. But one day, his destiny will be upset by his meeting with a dragon who will gradually bring him, he and his own, to see the world from a totally different point of view.
And the least we can say is that this animated film was an immense success in the world, passing the bar of 2.2 million admissions just in France. Faced with this craze, Dragons benefited from two other components: Dragons 2 and Dragons 3: the hidden world, made alone by Dean Deblois.
DreamWorks' masterpiece
Dragons is the first animated film in summary images directed by Chris Sanders And Dean Deblois. And since we are talking about first time, it is also the first cartoon of DreamWorks studios whose hero is a teenager.
To adapt the best-seller of Cressida Cowell On the big screen, it was Roger Deakins, the director of photography twice awarded the Oscars (1917 and Blade Runner 2049), who was commissioned. He served as an artistic advisor to the decorator Kathy Altieri and the supervisor of the Craig Ring special effects.
This gives rise to an animation masterpiece. Thus, each plan embraces the visual sublime of a world where mythical monsters meet, dragons (and more particularly the adorable Krokmou) and crazy allied warriors.
It is also an emotion jewel. Dragons Explore the themes of friendship (we think of the scene full of tenderness in which Harold tries to approach Krokmou who oscillates between confidence and mistrust), but also courage and acceptance.
