Tonight on TV: a big French actor + an idea of genius for one of the most endearing French comedies

Every day, Allociné recommends a film to (re) see on TV. Tonight: Tartas' family is mobilizing to help the name of Paul Fournier …

24 years before visitors took us into the crazy adventure of Jacquouille La Fripouille (Christian Clavier) and Godefroy de Montmirail (Jean Reno), Édouard Molinaro already offered spectators a tasty comedy in which a traveler of the past is found in the future.

You may have guessed it, this is Hibernatus. Released in the cinema in 1969, this film recounts the discovery of a mysterious shipwrecked found living in a block of ice, 65 years after an expedition in Greenland.

In order to spare him the shock of the modern world, his descendants, including his grandson Hubert de Tartas (Louis de Funès), develop a plan developed to make his grandfather believe that he was well at the beginning of the 20th century. But maintaining this masquerade is more and more complicated and leads to many hilarious situations …

In Hibernatuswe find the unforgettable Louis de Funèsaccompanied by his own son, Olivier de Funès. During their careers, they played together six times: Fantômas was unleashed (1965), Le Grand Restaurant (1966), Les Grandes Vacances (1967), as well as the Orchestra man (1970) and on a perched tree (1971).

In the casting ofHibernatuswe also note the presence of Claude Gensac, faithful partner of Louis de Funès, Michael Lonsdale, Gérard Hernandez, Annick Alane, or Bernard Alane. A beautiful skewer of actors and actresses.

A family affair

In addition to being irresistibly funny, this comedy with Louis de Funès is also endearing. In Hibernatusit is a whole family that mobilizes to recreate the beginning of the 20th century with an objective in mind: not to disturb Paul Fournier. Obviously, it creates a comic shift and a whole bunch of absurd situations that lend (penny).

A genius scenario that operates from start to finish, and a sensational performance of Louis de Funès. We think of the cult scene in which Hubert de Tartas farts the lead and reveals the whole truth to Paul: “You are your mother's grandfather, that is to say from my wife, her name is not Clémentine, her name is Edmée … Edmée! Edmée! Her name is Edmée!“”

As usual, the renowned actor is at the top of his art. And while making us laugh by his facial expressions and replicas that have become essential, he touches us with his attempts (unfortunately doomed to failure) to maintain the lie …

Tonight on TFX at 9:10 p.m.
