She revived fairy tales but this time anchored in our reality and fascinated her audience for no less than 7 years: we named “Once Upon a Time”, the magic, the magical, the mysterious as desired…
For Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), life was anything but happy. But, on the evening of her 28th birthday, when she finds Henry (Jared S. Gilmore), the son she entrusted for adoption ten years earlier, everything changes. The boy desperately needed his help: he is convinced, after having read a fairy tale book, that she is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, and that they sent her far from the enchanted forest to protect her from a curse launched by the wicked queen. Emma first refuses to believe a word of Henry's story, but soon discovers that her hometown, Storybrooke, in Maine, is much more than it seems …
Because this is where all the characters of classic fairy tales that we know are frozen in time, without any memory of themselves, with the exception of the nasty queen, mayor of the city and adoptive mother of Henry, Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla). Emma embarks in a wonderful and tragic journey, crossing on her Chemin Blanche Snow, which has become the sweet sister Mary Margaret Blanchard (Ginnifer Goodwin), the prince charming now called David Nolan (Josh Dallas), Tracassin (Robert Carlyle), the frightening expert in black magic or the Captain Crochet (Colin O'Donoghue). With his arrival, the hope of an entire amnesiac community is reborn …
If you are a fan of Disney and other fairy tales, you know Once Upon a Time, this ABC series which made its debut on the small screen in 2011. Using the cult stories of our childhood to revisit them, it brought up to date many of our favorite heroes and heroines. Indeed, the action takes place today in a town called Storybrooke where fairy tales really exist but where the protagonists have forgotten their true identity. We therefore alternate between two sets: a fantastic world and a fictitious seaside town well anchored in our reality.
Created by two Lost alumni – Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis -, the fantastic series made more than one dream during its 7 seasons of existence. Original, fascinating and full of twists and turns, Once Upon a Time is above all endearing and magical as well as the characters who populate it.
