A huge snake caused a brief power outage on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 in Quaso located in the educated municipality of the unrest area.
The incident inspired Ghana's Power Company (ECG) to intensify measures to protect the power grid from wildlife intervention.
Reptiles came in contact with Akyawkrom 2 feeder, grounding it and disrupted power supply in many places.
Rapid action was taken by the ECG's sub-transmission line maintenance team, and by 3:39 pm on the same day, the power was completely restored to Akyawkrom 1 and 2 interconnechers.
ECG officials said that although the service was immediately restored, such incidents highlight the challenges faced in grid operations due to the encroachment of wildlife – especially in areas near dense vegetation and with the boundaries of rural and urban settlements.
