Since the start of his career, Christopher Nolan has always proceeded in the same way. True to the logo which is that of his production house Syncopy, the British filmmaker to which we owe the trilogy The Dark Knight, Inception or Oppenheimer makes a point of honor to play with his spectators.
An epic full of surprises
When we look at one of his feature films for the first time, we enter a real labyrinth, inside which are waiting for many surprises await us. Noted 4.5 stars out of 5 and therefore considered the best science fiction film of all time by spectators of Allociné, Interstellar perfectly illustrates this characteristic.
Spatial and vertiginous epic on the borders of the cosmos, space and time, this film carried by Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway is also a journey in the depths of the human soul, whose ins and outs are managed to grasp only the spectacle completed.
Without revealing more about the magnificent and breathtaking conclusion of Interstellar, it will be recalled, however, that Nolan's film is constelled with surprising adventures and unexpected episodes, which disconcert the public as well as the protagonists.

Who is Mann?
But with regard to spectators, one of the biggest surprises in the film is 1 hour and 37 minutes, about two -thirds of the plot. At this precise moment, astronauts land on the planet of Mann, the second of the three worlds which were visited by the first explorers in order to find a new home for humanity.
They discover Professor Mann asleep in a hibernation box, which they deactivate to talk to him. But when Matthew McConaughey opens the cover in which the astronaut is extended, the emerging face is that of … Matt Damon.

World famous and therefore immediately recognizable by all spectators, the famous American actor indeed plays a late but crucial role in Nolan's film. The latter was well kept to mention it on the poster of Interstellar in order to provoke an effect of amazement among its spectators, by suggesting them at the same time its major function in the plot.
Note, moreover, that Mann's name is nothing other than Matt Damon's contraction and that the latter has again played for Nolan twice: in Oppenheimer alongside Cillian Murphy, then in The Odyssey, of which he will play the main role in 2026.
