Netflix commands a season 2 to this live -action adaptation of a cult manga – News series

On May 15, Netflix unveiled its brand new live-action BET series adapted to the manga gambling school. After years of chess (the film Death Note and the Cowboy Bebop series still haunt the memory of the fans), the platform finally seems to have found the right formula, evidenced by the successes encountered by its series Alice in Borderland and One Piece.

A nice success, despite the criticisms

Bet takes place in a school like no other, where students are tried on their talent at Paris and Money Games. The best classified students thus benefit from privileges, while the worst are mistreated and put at the service of others. The arrival in establishing a new recruit from Japan will however upset the classification of the high school.

As soon as it was put online, Bet met with great success with Netflix subscribers. The series has also ranked several consecutive weeks in the top 10 of the most consulted programs on the platform, and has even repeatedly integrated the top 5.

And this, despite the criticisms issued by fans of the manga and the animation series Gambling School, who criticized this live-action version its many releases with the original work.

Season 2 will surely not arrive in 2026

“I am extremely happy for our great BET fans around the world, who will be able to enjoy a new season, as well as for this team and this incredible casting, which will return to St. Dominic for more Paris and madness in general”said showrunner Simon Barry in an official statement.

No filming date has been announced for the time being, therefore leaving little hope for a return of the series next year. Recall that the original manga signed Homura Kawamoto (Scenario) and Tōru Naomura (drawings) to date 19 volumes (available in France at Sun Manga editions).

The first season of BET can now be found exclusively on Netflix.
