Edward Norton was forced to play in the remake of “Italian robbery” despite his refusal, which has deeply frustrated him to the point of denying this role. True to his artistic principles, he also boycotted the promotion of the film.
Being an actor is not always a pleasure, but beyond the hard work that the profession represents, it can be a really painful experience. It happens indeed that a role ends up deeply annoying the actor, for one reason or another, to the point that he no longer wants to know anything about the final result.
Many actors that some roles have left frustrated, annoyed, upset, spoke of their experience, and this is the case of Edward Norton. In the Italian robbery remake released in 2003, he had been chosen to play the main villain, Steve Frazelli, a choice that he did not like it at all.
It turns out that Norton was forced to play in the film by Paramount, with whom he had signed a contract for three films, starting out for fear in 1996, which earned him his first Oscar appointment. After having repeatedly declined other projects proposed by Paramount, even when the studio revised its contract to include only one additional film, it has still not been interested in their choices.
Paramount finally forced the hand to Norton by threatening him with legal proceedings if he did not play in their remake of Italian robberyand he therefore ceded out.
If doubts remain as for his feelings concerning the role, he would later have declared: “My real fans should drop this role.»

True to his reputation as a demanding actor and very attached to his artistic principles, Edward Norton However, decided not to promote the film. He will adopt a similar attitude in 2008, when the incredible Hulk was released, unhappy with the final version which did not correspond to his vision.
Released in 2003, Italian robbery is a modern revisit of the Gold Casse film, directed by Peter Collinson in 1969. In this remake, Mark Wahlberg embodies Charlie Croker, a daring thief, while Donald Sutherland plays the role of John Bridger, his mentor. Together, they bring together a team to steal gold ingots in Venice. The blow seems perfect, but quickly, a traitor appears, eliminates Bridger and fled with the loot. Charlie, helped in particular by Handsome Rob (Jason Statham) and Stella Bridger (Charlize Theron), then launched herself in pursuit to recover gold.

When it was released, the film met with a nice commercial success, garnering nearly $ 176 million at the world box office, for a budget of around 60 million. Paramount quickly envisages a suite, which will never see the day. In 2016, a series project around the film was mentioned, but it does not lead either.
