Is it worth a look?

Very prolific screenwriter, director and producer, Guy Ritchie is crumbling under projects between action films and television fictions. On the small screen, he returned to his first love, namely, the world of English organized crime, a well identified universe of his works.

After the success of The Gentlemen on Netflix, Guy Ritchie returns with another fiction of the same kind on which he has been working for several years. Originally, this new series was called The Donovans and was to be a spin-off by Ray Donovan.

Finally, fiction has become an independent project entitled Mobland and carried by Tom Hardy. The latter camps Harry Da Souza, a man working for a mafia family led by Maeve and Conrad Harrigan, interpreted respectively by Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.

A new series of successful gangsters for Guy Ritchie

On the universe side and staging, Mobland is pure Guy Ritchie. The world of organized crime that competes with the aristocrats and gangsters of less famed neighborhoods, that knows it.

Fans of Guy Ritchie will be delighted to find the darker, colder and harder aesthetic of his first works. The action scenes (between chase and fighting) are very rhythmic, nervous and well put together.

Producer of the series, Guy Ritchie sets Mobland's tone by carrying out the first two episodes of this less incredible and colorful fiction than the Gentlemen series.

Mobland takes a little more seriously and serves us a well written and taking story, that we owe to Ronan Bennett (Top BoyThe Day of the Jackal), thus offering more thickness and a framework for this fiction which already has all the ingredients to make an impression.

Anchored in a greater realism, not without a touch of British humor, Mobland turns out to be a breathtaking thriller with carefully drawn issues, conflicts between addictive gangs and fairly rich and delicious characters.

This new series should appeal to fans of Guy Ritchie, but also of Tom Hardy, who finds a larger and less unidings role in combining action and emotion in the face of a tasty pierce brosnan duo.

The “Mobland” series is available on Paramount+.
