Tacoma, Wash.-A 2-year-old girl who wandered from her house, was found safe on Saturday morning, police said that a man took her from outside a Tacoma Wendy.
The monitoring video showed the person entering the restaurant around 9 am, asking the employees whether they know the girl's parents. At that time, the child – was identified as only the dead – was alone on the pavement outside.
When the staff said they do not know, and before they could call the police, the man kept the child in his car and went away, the Tacoma police said.
About an hour later, the authorities located a dedi located in a house in Pierce County. The police did not say where the house was or confirms the man's relationship, but said that the child was again associated with his parents.
An amber alert was released at 11:30 am and canceled an hour later.
Tekoma Police spokesman Shelby Boyd said the matter was unusual in his experience.
“In my career, with this type of call, I have not seen it personally,” Boyd said. “I have not worked in such a case.”
The police is not identifying the man because he has not been formally charged. Officials credited quick recovery for tips from the community.
“This small information you don't think is not related … that may be a piece that keeps it together,” Boyd said. “And today, it brought Dade home.”
