The United States has maintained a military attendance in the Middle East for decades, currently deployed between 40,000 and 50,000 soldiers at at least 19 sites.
United States Announced On Wednesday that it is preparing partial withdrawal of its embassy in Iraq and has authorized the “voluntary departure” of dependents of American personnel from the Middle East, including Bahrain, Kuwait and United Arab Emirates, with an increase in regional security concerns.

Where are the American military hideouts in the Middle East?
The US has operated military bases in the Middle East for decades.
According to the council on foreign relations, the US operates a comprehensive network of both permanent and temporary military sites at at least 19 places in the region.
Of these, eight are permanent base, located in Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

How many American soldiers are there in the Middle East?
America's first deployment of soldiers in the Middle East was in July 1958 when the soldiers were sent to Berut during the Lebanon crisis. At its height, there were about 15,000 marines and army soldiers in Lebanon.
By the middle of 2025, there are about 40,000 to 50,000 American troops in the Middle East, including large, permanent bases and personnel deployed in small forward sites throughout the region.
The most American soldiers include Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. These installations serve as an important hub for air and naval operations, regional logistics, intelligence gathering and force launch.
There are some notable hideouts in the area below.
- Al Udid Air Base (Qatar) – The largest American military base in the Middle East established in 1996. Covering an area of 24 hectares (60 acres), the base includes about 100 aircraft as well as drones. The base, which has some 10,000 soldiers, serves as the forward headquarters for the US Central Command (CentCom) and has been central for operations in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.

- Naval Support Activity, NSA (Bahrain) – The current US Navy base sits on the site of former British Navy installation, HMS tongue. Aadhaar hosts the department of about 9,000 defense personnel, including military and civilian employees. The house for the fifth fleet of the US Navy provides protection to ships, planes, troops and remote sites in the base area.

- Camp Arifjan (Kuwait) – Camp Arifjan is the basis of a major US Army located in the south -south -south of the city of Kuwait city. Built in 1999, it acts as primary logistics, supply and command hub for American military operations in the Middle East, especially within the American Centomm region of responsibility.

- Al-e-Dafra Arbse (UAE) , A strategic base reconnaissance, intelligence information and combat focus on supporting air operations. Aadhaar hosts advanced aircraft such as F-22 raptor stealth fighters and various monitoring aircraft such as drones and AWACs.

- Erbil Air Base (Iraq) – Especially used by American forces for air operations in Northern Iraq and Syria, where soldiers recommend Kurdish and Iraqi forces.
