The Tony Ayres showrunner compares the survivors to “a Trojan horse”: “It is a family melodrama disguised as a police investigation. Because what is at the heart of the series is a son who aspires to the love of his mother, and the latter who simply cannot afford it, for fear that his world will collapse”.
The series is inspired by the successful novel by Jane Harper, sold in more than 3 million copies, and addresses, according to Tony Ayres, “The themes of the family, the mourning and the stories that we are racing to understand the loss”.
For Kieran, Mia and all the other inhabitants of Evelyn Bay, the stories they have been telling each other for a long time to go ahead are starting to get rid of, revealing a part of shadow to the always sunny surfaces that surround them.
