If you like sixth sense, a Netflix series is in preparation with a great director who directed Kristen Stewart and Natalie Portman

A new project of psychological and fantastic thriller, which is reminiscent of the ghostly history of “sixth sense” is in production for Netflix, signed by the director Pablo Larraín (“Jackie”, “Spencer”, “Maria”).

Horror continues to be a kind privileged by Netflix in its future productions, especially when it is carried out by masters and specialists of this type of works.

After Mike Flanagan and its many series (The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, etc.) and Guillermo del Toro (the Cabinet des Curiosités, Frankenstein), it is Pablo Larraín, known among other things for his intense biopics (Neruda, Jackie, Spencer and Maria) who is working on a new horrific project for the platform.

The new Pablo Larraín project for Netflix

The Chilean scriptwriter and director had already taken hold of the figure of the vampire in the count, a fantastic comedy making dictator Augusto Pinochet a blood sucker, who had won the prize for the scenario at the Venice Mostra in 2023.

Netflix had acquired international dissemination rights for the count and the platform therefore offers Pablo Larraín to carry out his new horrific project entitled My Sad Dead.

This mini-series in 4 parts, inspired by the new eponym of the author Argentina Mariana Enríquez, tells the story of Ema, 60-year-old, who can see and hear the dead, whom she calls “presences”, but which she tries to repress.

When her niece Julie, a disturbed young woman with the same gift with a more intense and sexual connotation, arrives at home, Ema is forced to reconnect with this gift.

“I see people who are dead”

According to the Netflix synopsis, we must expect a psychological and fantastic thriller, which is reminiscent of the cult film sixth sense with Bruce Willis (remember, “I see people who are dead”):

“What starts as a family meeting is transformed into a series of disturbing events that upsets the balance between the world of the living and that of the dead, infecting a whole district of voice from elsewhere. While the boundaries between life, death and desire fade, Ema will have to face her past, her daughter and the ghosts that she has never let go.”

After the vampires, Pablo Larraín therefore appropriates the figure of the ghost in his new project, which should attract subscribers. My Sad Dead, is produced by the director's fabula label in collaboration with the company K&S Films, producers of the recent world success in Netflix.

According to Varietythe filming of My Sad Dead will start at the end of June in Buenos Aires and Santiago, Chile, with a casting Stars Argentinian, including Mercedes Morán (Neruda), Dolores Fonzi (Truman) and Alejandra Flechner (The Lost Brother).
