Considered one of the greatest legends of French cinema, Louis de Funès participated in his last feature film in 1982, a year before his disappearance.
Impossible to evoke the history of French cinema without pronouncing the name of Louis de Funès. Immortelle legend of comedy, this genius of humor that crossed the generations, even after his death, will have made millions and millions of spectators cry. His famous facial expressions, the correctness of his game and his unbeatable sense of rhythm make him an essential figure in the seventh art.
Louis de Funès' latest film
From the Grande Vadrouille to the saga of the gendarmes via Oscar, the Corniaud, the madness of the quantities or the adventures of Rabbi Jacob, there is no longer the number of classics that star his rich filmography. Films, Louis de Funès could also have offered us many others if he had not tragically disappeared in 1983, at the age of 68, following a heart attack.
In 1975, a first heart attack had already forced him to drastically reduce his rhythm of filming and to save on less physically demanding projects. He then shoots films such as wing or thigh, zizania or gendarme and extraterrestrials.
It was therefore in 1982, after the cabbage soup, that he played in his latest feature film, the last part of the saga produced by Jean Girault: the gendarme and the gendarmettes.

Still many projects
Noted 2.1 out of 5 stars by spectators of Allociné and therefore considered as the weakest episode of the franchise, this last film has various sequences and replicas which, let us be honest, pass the test of time, especially concerning the way in which the men of Cruchot are conducted with the famous “gendarmet”.
Smaller score at the French box office for a gendarme, the film still brought together more than 4 million spectators in the dining room.
Far from representing the masterful career of Louis de Funès, this feature film almost not been his last. Indeed, in addition to several ideas for a seventh gendarme (which could have taken Cruchot to Japan), a new film was also considered alongside Coluche and another comedy with Gérard Oury (Le Crocodile, where Funès was to play a South American dictator).
In addition, a few weeks before his death, he had attended a representation of the play Grandpa makes resistanceand had given his agreement in principle to the young comedians of the Splendid to play in the film, which is dedicated to him.
