Harry Potter: The interpreter of Hagrid in the new series promises that he will not copy the films

Nick Frost, who will play Rubeus Hagrid in the new adaptation of “Harry Potter” novels, promised that he will not copy the interpretation of his predecessor in the eight films of the saga.

It was with a heavy feeling of responsibility that Nick Frost agreed to play Hagrid in the new adaptation of Harry Potter. The actor seen in particular in Shaun of the Dead knows that this character holds a very special place in the hearts of fans of the saga, and he will therefore have to work hard to hope to be up to expectations.

The new interpreter of Hagrid pays tribute to his predecessor

Especially since he succeeds the late Robbie Coltrane, whose performance is considered to date still perfectly faithful to the novels of JK Rowling. But Nick Frost knows that to convince fans, he will have to do something other than copy the interpretation of his predecessor. The English actor therefore promises a version “different but respectful” of Hagrid, as he entrusted to our colleagues from Collider ::

I am very aware of what was done before me (…). I will try to do something, no different because you have to respect the original material, but there is room to bring small touches of nuances. (…) I have always seen Hagrid like an adorable, lost, violent, funny, warm child. Being able to devote to each book an entire season will allow me to explore all this more.

The production of the series recently announced the names of the three main performers of this new adaptation. Dominic McLaughlin will be Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout will lend his features to Ron Weasley. It has also been announced that teachers Dumbledore, Rogue and McGonagall will be camped by John Lithgow, Paapa Essiedu and Janet McTeer.

7 seasons are already planned

Rubeus Hagrid is the keys to the Hogwarts witchcraft school. This half-cave man has privileged links with Harry Potter, and it was he who was responsible for depositing him on the doorstep of the Dursley after the death of his parents. Throughout their schooling, he will be for the sorcerer's apprentice and his friends a faithful and loyal ally.

The shooting of the first season of the program should soon start, for broadcasting at the end of 2026 or in early 2027. Seven seasons are planned, each adapting one of the novels of the saga saga sorcerer. The first adaptation to the cinema had given rise to eight films (the seventh installment – the death relics – had been cut into two parts).

The Harry Potter series will be found exclusively on HBO Max.
