Only a few days before the launch of everything for light on Netflix and TF1! On the occasion of the arrival of the series, the editorial staff of Allociné had the chance to go on the set of this new daily newspaper and to meet Joy Esther. The actress thus embodies the heroine of this soap opera. A role that she had been waiting for a long time. Confidences!
Allociné: What seduced you in the project?
Joy Esther (Victoria Vargas): At first, I heard votes a little in the profession which said that a musical series was soon to arrive. It had to be six or seven months before the beginnings of the hearings. When I learned that there was music, singing and a little glee and one, back, I told myself that it was for me. It's my cam. And then, being a singer and actress, I said to myself: “it's going to be heavy”. I did everything to pass the auditions. I absolutely wanted to pass the tests. I had a casting with my guitar. We had imposed songs, texts. I liked the whole project!
Is it a bit of a return to music for you after beautiful, beautiful, beautiful and Romeo and Juliet?
Yes, and music is my life, but after musicals, it is true that acting came more naturally to me. In any case, I had more proposals to make fiction, so I put music aside a little but it remains my two passions. For years, I sang for myself. Now I sing for my daughter. Then all of a sudden, it's a return to music. I sing in the series and I love my titles. And then, I find the spirit of a troop also of musicals, and that is what I really like. I love being in a troop because I love to share.
What can you tell us about the character of Victoria that you play in everything for light?
Victoria is a woman who was a very popular singer in the 2000s when she was 20 years old. She was a big success with her group Stereo Alba. Overnight, she left everything, for reasons that we will know as you go but, in any case, she has ghosted people a little.
She left everything: her profession, her family, her mother, the light studio, her ex. And then, it is recalled a little in disaster 20 years later. Since then, she has made her life, she has become a child psychiatrist, she married, she had her daughter. She is good in her life. She has a heavy past, but I think she put everything under the carpet a little and then one day, it bursts.
She will be confronted with her past and she will have to settle a lot and then find music. Because I think that for 20 years, she really put the music aside except that music is her life.
His journey ultimately echoes yours …
Exactly. I found a lot in common compared to that. Suddenly, when I play Victoria, I embody it completely, I feel completely it. I also bring me, but clearly, I was Victoria. It is a real meeting with this character.
How is your collaboration with Wolf the coadou (Baya) and Lannick Gautry (Max) Who play your daughter and husband?
It's wonderful. Louve, I love her with love, I find her incredible. I think she is a big actress who has a crazy future. And then, I felt very close to her from the start, maybe also because I became a mom in life. I have this maternal side which is very present.
And then, Lannick is an actor of madness. I know his career, I know which actor he is. It's very nice to play with him. I am completely, I trust him. I know that when I have scenes with him, I go with my eyes closed. Due to his acting, he highlights the other and it's really cool.
You are now playing in a daily life. It is a fairly intense shoot. How do you manage all this?
It's super intense, but it's also a summer saga, so it will stop at some point. We hope there will be a season 2, but it is true that it is very intense over five months. I'm tired, but it's good fatigue. I prepared myself physically and psychologically two months before. I arrived on the set, I was ready and above all, I impose a rhythm.
I go out very little or when I go out, it is because I know that I do not turn the next day, which is very rare. I work on the train, it became my office because I come back every weekend to see my daughter. The train has become my office. The six-hour round trips, I spend them working, working, working, and I want to arrive on the free set of my texts.
I don't want to think about my texts, I want to be free to play, so I work like crazy. But it pays because when we are on the set and we have our texts, we are completely free with the director, with his partner, we do not look for his words.
What would you say to people to convince them to look Everything for light ?
If they like music, if they like dance and if they liked the series like Glee and as one, back, very, they must look! It's dynamic, it's cool and there are crazy actors. We have confirmed actors like Lannick GautryMichaël Cohen, Isabel Otero and Gilles Cohen who are still figures that the public knows.
But, they will especially discover incredible talents. All young people are killers, they are small bombs, they are nuggets. There is something for all ages, for all tastes.
