Nils (Vike) sows chaos in the couple formed by Sultana and Elimane (Loris Triolo) in everything for light! A strong intrigue carried by Yara Charry, a star in Brazil! We went to meet him on the set of the soap opera. The opportunity for her to return to this ark, her popularity across the Atlantic and her complicity with the other actors. Confidences!

Allociné: You are a real star in Brazil. What attracted you to this project? Did you want to conquer the French public?

Yara Charry (Sultana) : I was born in Paris. I did all my studies there until I was 19. I spent my baccalaureate and the next day, I am called to offer to make a series in Brazil. I was not an actress and it was not something I had considered. I was thinking of doing fashion studies. Nothing to do with artistic.

In the end, I liked it and I have been an actress in Brazil for seven years. I chained the series, the Netflix films, the Telenovelas, a little of everything. Everything for light, I think it is a return to the roots, in real life, because I have never done acting in France and in my native language.

Last year, after my last Brazilian series, I told myself that, still, it would be good that I could understand the French public and to see what it gives to do acting in French, knowing that I had never done it.

Before flying to Brazil, did you already know how to speak the language?

My mother is Brazilian and my father is French. We have lived in Paris since my birth. I understood the Portuguese, but I had an accent. When I shot my first series, I embodied a Frenchwoman.

I could have the accent, it was not disturbing. But from the second series, the director looked at me and said to me, “If you want this character, you have to erase your accent. You have four months.”

So I spent four months with a speech therapist, but it did. Today, I speak Portuguese fluently and when I say that I am French, I am not believed. And in French, I have no accent either.

Sultana has a strong personality. Can you identify yourself?

Of course. I think, that in all of us, there is a little of this character. When we play comedy, we try to find the character in us. Sultana, she is very strong and she is very charismatic. She wants it and she knows what she wants. This is the side that looks like me.

Obviously, she has small personal touches to her that I do not have, but for me, it is a challenge, to add small things that we do not necessarily have in common and which make it sultana.

You all have a very good complicity …

Frankly, the entire group, we had a very instant connection. We have the impression that we have known each other for 10 years. While it has only been three months that we are together and that we got to know each other. At the same time, we were shooting and at the same time, we had coaching, so that was a lot at the same time, but we all have this connection.

You had to work more with Loris Triolo who plays Elimane, Sultana's boyfriend. How did you work on your complicity?

I think that with Loris, the same thing happened a bit. He had never done an acting. This is his first time and it is his first work on TV. It is quite the opposite for me. We found ourselves a little in this side where he is very open to advice, even if I have no advice to give to anyone.

But, when you play together, you can quickly help each other, have this connection. We have a real exchange and it is done alone.

You are finally one of the only actresses in the series already to be successful. Did you talk about it with the other actors in order to prepare them as well as possible?

We have already discussed it. It is true that there are lots of actors in this series which have already done daily, so they know a little how it goes, of which Marie Fèvre who made such a great sun. But I think they don't realize that they are both together. Suddenly, there will be the public of the daily life and another completely different audience.

At the same time, I think a lot of people watching the daily lives also look at Netflix, so it's going to be a plus. And from time to time, we laugh, we talk about it. I tell them: “But you are not ready. You have to give everything, because we will have a lot of audiences!” In any case, we hope.

There will be a kind of love triangle between Nils, Sultana and Elimane. What can you tell us?

Elimane is not present in the first episodes, because he is on tour and he must not return. There is a small love triangle because something happens with Nils and it turns into drama when he discloses a video on the internet. How to remedy this?

Knowing that she has a boyfriend and that she did not know if she was still in a relationship, it's a night that completely turns her adventure in everything for the light. It's delicate as a subject, but I'm happy to tell it because I think it can happen to other people. Internet, it's going so fast.

Was it interesting for you to play?

When I read the scripts for the first time, I said to myself “wow” because it is still a drama that can happen to all young people today. But at the same time, it is a fairly strong intrigue because Nils is a very intense character. It happens from the start.

And as Sultana is a strong girl, who knows what she wants and who says what she thinks when she thinks it and who does not necessarily have a filter, one wonders how she will manage this situation, knowing that Elimane returns from her tour. In fact, it almost becomes a blackmail.

How to solve the problem? Sultana does not drop because she does not want to lose Elimane so, she gives everything.

It is also very identifiable, because I imagine that it happens to a lot of couples …

When you put yourself in a very young couple and you are together for 10 years and you go to a new school, there are other adventures that start. Sultana wants to give the best of herself in this cycle. Yes, she has been in a relationship for 10 years, but she meets new people. He travels.

Doubt settles and as they are young, it's super normal and it's human. We will just realize that Sultana is human and that it was not wickedness, that it was not to hurt Elimane and that it happened because it is human. And then, how will she manage this?

Is he a character you like to embody?

There is a lot of things for her. As an actress, I can show lots of facets of her personality. Admittedly, she is beautiful, she has a great makeup and she dresses super well and I think that all that we can have an image of her which is not the right one. In reality, she has feelings, it touches her what's going on.

I find the character super interesting because there is the dramatic side and there is the comedy side with everything that happens in the roommate and with the other characters. So, I switch on several axes!

What would you say to people to convince them to look at everything for the light?

Me, when I received the script, it immediately made me tilt, so I hope it will also convince the public. There is one side one, back, very and that's my adolescence. I have watched all the episodes several times. When I went back to school, it was really something that was inspiring to see young people dance, sing, and outdo themselves.

I think everything for the light also shows young people who surpass themselves every day and there is a lot of things, whether it is with your family, as a couple, and at school. I think there is a side of yourself! Me, that's what made me like the series right away! I hope we can bring the same to the public today. You can love dance, music and make people vibrate.
