This is a project whose existence we had forgotten: Netflix gave encouraging news from its suitable series of Minecraft games!
Almost a year to the day, Netflix announced to develop a series of animation derived from Minecraft with Mojang Studios in partnership with Mojang Studios. Sold in more than 300 million copies worldwide since its launch in 2011 (the record to date), this adventure game allows the user to create at will.
News from the Minecraft project
One year after this announcement, Netflix gives news of this project. During its panel at the Annecy animation festival, the platform unveiled the creative team that will oversee the series. It will be led by executive producers and Kevin Adams and Joe Ksander showrunners. AC Bradley, already at work on the excellent What If …? On Disney+., will direct the group of screenwriters.
“We are very enthusiastic about the idea of offering an animated series in the world of Minecraft on Netflix. We are working in close collaboration with our friends from Mojang Studios”they said during this panel. “”We want to delight longtime fans, but we also want this series to attract new fans. ” The idea of this animation series? “Creating a universe that is a new experience for fans.”.
Minecraft is the kind of game where players can evolve freely: there is no story strictly speaking, so that the creators of the Netflix series start from zero (or almost). As in the film released last April on our screens, in short.
A brand that reports
The Warner Bros studios had hollow nose by producing a live-action adaptation of Minecraft. Released a few months ago on our screens, the blockbuster reported $ 500 million worldwide and attracted 2.6 million curious little ones in cinemas in France. Despite fairly severe criticism, the film carried by Jack Black and Jason Momoa was a huge success. Proof that fans responded.
We are therefore waiting for foot firm the animated series of Netflix which could also create the surprise, if the quality is there. But we will have to wait a little more before discovering the result on our screens: this Minecraft should land in 2026 or even 2027…
