In two weeks, the Prime Video subscribers will say goodbye to the six seasons of this fantastic series on which no one had bet …
When in 2011, the MTV decided to adapt the film Teen Wolf (with Michael J. Fox) we expect yet another series for teens with fantastic sauce. A kind of campus wolves but in high school.
But rather than going to comedy, the creators decide to opt for a darker and dramatic tone, which will explore different myths. The idea? Offer a kind of buffy against vampires, but werewolf-garus version. And the magic operates.
Teen Wolf, what is it talking about?
Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) is a teenager all that is most ordinary. He is not the most popular in his high school, he is not the laughing stock either … One evening, his best friend Stiles convinces him to follow in secret police research to find a body in the surrounding woods.
During this expedition, he finds himself face to face with a strange and particularly ferocious beast. He narrowly escapes this attack and, lucky, with a single injury: an ugly bite. The next day, Scott feels weird. Without he knows it yet, his life has just changed. He has become a werewolf …
Why spectators love it
With an excellent average of 4.3 out of 5 for 10,300 notes, Teen Wolf is one of the best series of all time on Allociné for spectators. If she obviously has her detractors, who did not go beyond the first season, her real fans can defend her:
“We also have a varied cast, entertaining and fun characters, a well-conducted intrigue and which holds relatively well in suspense, and a well-transcribed” teenager “atmosphere. In short, a fantastic and dramatic American television series that will certainly fill its target audience, often fantastic universes” (Alexis D.)
“For all those who love teenagers mixed with strange creatures. This series is perfectly made for that. Casting very little known in its early days. Suspense, love, humor are there.” (Daryloo)
“Shuffle! Honestly, I hung on the first 3 episodes because I had read the opinions, saying in particular that the series rose in power and that the title was misleading: indeed, if the first episodes are a little painful and really make a series for teens, Teen Wolf very quickly becomes a top series: endearing characters, nice scenario, rhythm, humor, etc. are there. MTV series obliges, it should be kept in mind that the teams worked with a limited budget and the special effects are mostly practical. Thus, when Tyler Posey takes on the appearance of a wolf, these are real prostheses he carries on his face. A visual aspect that can repel some but to which we are done over the episodes.
If the first season is used to place the plot and the characters, it is from season 2 that it becomes interesting: the writers take the time to develop the lore And to introduce new creatures into the bestiary (starting with kanima). Teen Wolf is becoming darker and faster, with a mystery every season.
The series takes on another dimension in season 3, when it highlights Stiles (Dylan O'Brien), which goes from Side Kick Comic to the tortured hero. The writers draw here in Japanese folklore by introducing onis and the Katsune (of which the villain is, the terrifying nogitsune), supernatural and generally dangerous creatures.
If Teen Wolf does not avoid the pitfalls of the teenage series – not very interesting love stories, actor play too fluctuating – it remains quite entertaining to make you want to banger The 6 seasons before they leave Prime Video on June 30.
