Currently first in the top 10 series on Netflix, the British thriller the forgotten files has probably kept you in suspense. If you are looking for a similar experience, we have what you need for you.
Bodkin
What is it talking about?
A bunch of podcasters decides to investigate old mysterious disappearances in a picturesque city of Ireland which hides black and terrible secrets.
Why should you like it too?
What we liked in the forgotten files is the mixture of thriller and black humor, as only the British know how to do it. And we find the same thing in Bodkin, an Irish police comedy released on Netflix last year. The three heroes look at a Cold Case, a disappearance that dates back over 20 years.
Much less dark than the forgotten files, Bodkin remains a thriller that keeps in suspense but we like it especially for its cynicism. You will fall in love with the characters worn by Will Forte, Siobhán Cullen and Robyn Cara.
Sherlock
What is it talking about?
The adventures of Sherlock Holmes and his lifelong acolyte, Doctor Watson, are transposed in the 21st century …
Why should you like it too?
This is perhaps the easy choice but when we see the character of Carl Mork – played by the excellent Matthew Goode – we can only think of his British paper counterpart: Sherlock. They are two brilliant investigators plagued by their demons, often grumpy and little appreciated by their colleagues.
In this modern and ultra popular version, actor Benedict Cumberbatch does wonders as much in drama as in comedy (with his creaky humor and his nice tackles). If you haven't still seen it, it's time when never! Especially since Sherlock lasts only 4 seasons composed each of 3 1:30 am episodes/surveys.
Deadwind
What is it talking about?
While Sofia Karppi, a detective in their thirties, tries to recover from the death of her husband, the discovery of a young woman's body on a site will trigger a series of events that will again threaten her life.
Why should you like it too?
We leave the Scottish landscapes for those of Finland in this series released in 2018. And for a reason: the forgotten files is the adaptation of one of the novels of the Danes Jussi Adler-Olsen and whose action takes place in a Nordic country.
Deadwind shares several points in common with the Netflix series: a duo of investigators who do not get along at first, a dark and moist tone and a matter that keeps us in suspense. Three seasons are available on the platform.
Murders in Åre
What is it talking about?
Aimed by an internal investigation, an inspector of the Stockholm police goes on leave in a ski resort, but the disappearance of a young girl forces her to regain service.
Why should you like it too?
Released at the start of the year on Netflix, this detective series of 6 small episodes had captured the subscribers. Murders in Åre is the adaptation of a literary saga, written here by Viveca Sten, a particularly appreciated Nordic thrifty author. Please note, the first season has a particularity: it is divided into two very distinct surveys.
All these series are to be seen on Netflix.
