Cult for 25 years, this science fiction saga returns to the cinema and we know the release date!

Three years after the announcement of the project by Christophe Gans, the release of Return To Silent Hill is becoming clearer. After his adaptation dating from 2006, the French director will return to the cursed city to make us shiver! The release date was finally unveiled. Appointment is given in French dark rooms on January 21, 2026.

For this new part, Christophe Gans has chosen to adapt the intrigue of the 2nd game Silent Hill more faithfully, released in 2001 on PlayStation 2. We will find James Sunderland, a man broken by his separation with his great love. One day, a mysterious letter reaches him and reminds him of Silent Hill to send him in search of the woman he loves.

There, he finds himself in a city he once knew, but which seems to have been transformed by an unknown evil spirit. While James penetrates more deeply into this frightening darkness, he meets terrifying figures, sometimes familiar. He then begins to wonder if he goes crazy and fights against himself to find a meaning to this strange reality, in order to manage to save his love.

When first images were presented last year, they announced a sticky and scary atmosphere at will. The well -known monsters of the saga will be present, bloodthirsty nurses without faces to Pyramid Head, mythical antagonist of video games. The most striking creature of the saga will therefore return the hero of history (and our minds).

It is Jeremy Irvine who will slip into the costume of James Sunderland. His wife, Mary, will be camped by Hannah Emily Anderson. “It is a Silent Hill for today's public while being ultra respectful of the saga. I am aware that Silent Hill is a very great franchise in video games and a work of art in the noble sense of the term”said the filmmaker when the project announced in June 2022.

“The people who thought Silent Hill put a lot of their guts there. To know them well, they are extremely honest people. For me, it was important to design a Silent Hill in the light public.”

Recall that two films Silent Hill were released previously: Silent Hill (2006) and Silent Hill 2: Revelation (2012). Return to Silent Hill returns on January 21, 2026.
