It was obviously necessary a large -scale star for the main role of such a project, and if Russell Crowe had been expected for a time, it was Tom Hanks who was chosen to interpret the role of Professor Robert Langdon. A character he will embody again twice for two new adaptations still signed Ron Howard, in 2009 first in Angels and Demons then in 2016 in Inferno.
