ASP reports sexual sex cases involving children

Little Rock, Arc. (Kite) – Arkansas State Police reported that the number of children victims of online sex is increasing.

“Children under seven years of age are being targeted online,” said Sergeant Corin Battle, Commander of Arkansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Battle said in the ASP news release on Monday that ICAC received 169 Sexist Reports in 2024.

He said, “Already in 2025, Arkansas received a 170 sexual report, which is more than the total of the previous year, which is still half year ahead,” he said. “The danger is real, but it is different that many of us worry about this.”

The ICAC Task Force encourages parents, carers and the community to increase its strategies for child safety, including implementing these updated security rules:

  • Old rule: Do not talk to strangers publicly.
  • New rule: Do not talk to strangers online – whether they seem favorable or say things of their choice.
  • Old rule: Never go into a car with someone you do not know.
  • New rule: Never click on the link or accept friend requests you do not really know.
  • Old Testament: If something seems wrong, find a reliable adult immediately.
  • New rule: If something seems wrong online, tell a reliable adult immediately.
  • Old Testament: Do not share your home address or phone number.
  • New rule: Do not share personal details like your school, hometown, or online photos.
  • Old rule: Do not take candy from strangers!
  • New rule: Do not accept gifts, wealth, or promises from online people – no matter how good it is.
