The creator of “Yellowstone” Taylor Sheridan admitted that the Western series is not realistic, but that it paints an almost exact portrait of the world today.
His speeches are quite rare, but Taylor Sheridan agreed to engage in a cross interview with his friend Peter Berg for the site Gold Derby. The latter met with success earlier in the year with the Western mini-series at the dawn of America, produced by Netflix.
Yellowstone, a soap opera? Taylor Sheridan assumes
This dark and historical production is in a way the antithesis of Yellowstone, which can be stored in the category of serials. And Sheridan who is usually someone who is quite proud does not seem to have a problem to qualify his series as Soap, quite the contrary.
Grateful “absurd” From Yellowstone, the latter revealed that according to him the main quality of the program is not based on his realism. Taylor Sheridan notably quotes the words of the author Gretel Ehrlich who qualified the series as “SOAP Equestrian Opera” ::
It makes no sense, and it doesn't try to get it. And yet it is a window on the world. The series paints a love portrait of nature, and the camera shows us this place as the perfect place to raise a family. I tried to alleviate this aspect in 1883 (Editor's note, the prequel of Yellowstone), showing these landscapes as a completely foreign land.
For once, Kevin Costner agrees with Taylor Sheridan
This puts Taylor Sheridan (almost) agree with Kevin Costner, although the two men are blurred. John Dutton's interpreter had recently compared the series to a soap opera, and estimated that Yellowstone is not realistic without which all the characters in the program would end in prison.
Yellowstone's broadcast ended last December, after its fifth season. Two prequels have already emerged-1883 and 1923-and four new derivative series are already announced: The Madison, a suite with Michelle Pfeiffer, a third prequel 1944, and two spin-offs on Kayce Dutton (entitled Y: Marshals) and another on Beth and Rip.
