Amazon backtrack and cancels a series which had however been renewed

Not everything goes as planned in the little world of TV series where nothing is immutable. The showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino has just learned at her expense: Prime Video has just canceled her Star series, while two seasons had been ordered upstream.

On paper, his series had something to please us. She follows two world -renowned ballet companies, based one in New York and the other in Paris, who try a daring bet: to save their historical institutions, they decide to exchange their most talented recruits.

Not profitable enough

We liked its eclectic and international cast – carried by Luke Kirby (Mrs Marvel), Charlotte Gainsbourg, Simon Callow (Outlander), Lou de Laâge and David Alvarez (West Side Story). And the appearance of two actors from Gilmore Girls, namely Yanic Truesdale (Michel) and Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore) had something to please fans.

But unfortunately, the rest did not follow. As the American site points out Deadlinethe spectators quickly disinterested in the series and star never achieved the hearing objectives: in other words, she was not profitable enough to open the door to a season 2.

Especially since it was quite expensive, with a shoot between New York and Paris in fairly prestigious places. Amazon still said that she would campaign for the Emmy, where Star could compete in the “Comedy” category.

The press under the spell, the spectators a little less

This announcement is most certainly a hard blow for Amy Sherman-Palladino and his partner Daniel Palladino. The screenwriter has been working on this project for years, she who is a real ballet enthusiast.

Unfortunately, the duo has managed to convince that the press, which highlighted the quality of their work. On Allociné, French journalists gave him the very good average of 3.6 out of 5, where the spectators only granted him a note of 2.9 out of 5 …

Star is not the only series that Amazon has canceled in recent weeks since the time wheel has experienced the same fate. The latter was canceled after three seasons, despite very luxury criticisms … Again, the production costs were very high and the spectators did not meet.
