Adapted from a novel by Stephen King, this science fiction series will disappear in a few days

In 2013, the American channel CBS adapted a popular novel by Stephen King which sees a small town undergo, from the inside, an extraterrestrial invasion.

Cinema and television have found in the bibliography of Stephen King an inexhaustible source of stories, flirting with horror, fantastic and science fiction. In early 2010, the American channel CBS got closer to the American author to bring Under the Dome, one of his last novels on the screen.

The adaptation was born in 2013. It follows the inhabitants of a small community wake up one morning, cut off from the world and trapped in the city because of a huge transparent dome. Some will try, in a hidden way, to take advantage of this disturbing and unexplained situation, in order to take power. But resistance is organized around a veteran of the war in Iraq, to prevent these malicious people from reaching their end.

Stephen King Valid Under the Dome

The series by Brian K. Vaughan allows himself some freedoms with Stephen King's science fiction novel, but without distorting the very essence of history. The author dubbed this adaptationstressing all the same that the authors have “Completely reimagined the origin of the dome”. He will even participate in the writing of an episode of season 2 and will do a little camera.

Under The Dome is making a canon launch on the CBS, breaking the audience record for the driver of a dramatic series launched in summer: 13 million American viewers responded to discover the mystery behind this dome. Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Dean Norris (Breaking Bad) and Britt Robertson are the headliners.

A real end to Under the Dome

The launch of season 2 of Under the Dome the following summer is an industrial disaster: the series loses half of its audience (7 million spectators on average) and its quality decreases sharply.

While the public awaits answers on the origin of the dome, the writers make the suspense last lasting by focusing on the intestine war between the inhabitants of Chester's Mill, to the point of making it a family series instead of a breathtaking science fiction story. The intrigue saw ridiculous: we have the right to an invasion of a caterpillar, the story of a sick porcelet and the stars and the magic egg no longer interest …

In short, Under the Dome disappoints. While a series like Lost has managed to maintain the suspense and captivate spectators for several seasons with very well written characters, this adaptation of Stephen King aims next. Fortunately, the CBS agrees to renew it for a 3rd season, which will be the last.

And this time, the writers answer all the questions we asked ourselves (the origin of the dome and how to destroy it, in particular). Those who will have the courage to catch up with Under the Dome Streaming on Prime Video will therefore have for their money.

But hurry up: the series leaves the platform on June 10.
