The actor passed away on Friday night. His friends visited his home on Saturday after learning about his demise. The reason for the actor’s death was not known at the time this report was written. More details, including a statement from his friends and family, are expected soon.
Actress Deepshikha Nagpal, who was a close friend of Mukul Dev, confirmed the sad news on social media. She shared an Instagram Story with a throwback picture and simply wrote, “RIP.”
The actor was last seen in the Hindi film ‘Anth The End’. He was the brother of fellow actor Rahul Dev.
Mukul Dev was born in New Delhi into a Punjabi family. His family had roots in a village near Jalandhar. His father, Hari Dev, was an assistant commissioner of police and was the one who introduced him to Afghan culture, as he could speak Pashto and Persian.
Mukul Dev’s first experience with the entertainment world came early. When he was in Class 8, he received his first payment for impersonating Michael Jackson in a dance show organized by Doordarshan, India’s public broadcaster.
Interestingly, the actor was also a trained pilot from the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi.
He began his acting career in television with the serial ‘Mumkin’, where he played the role of Vijay Pandey in 1996. He also appeared in Doordarshan’s ‘Ek Se Badh Kar Ek’, which was a comedy show counting down Bollywood songs.
He was also the host of the first season of ‘Fear Factor India’. His journey in films began with ‘Dastak’, where he played the role of ACP Rohit Malhotra. This film also marked the acting debut of former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen.
