It's official: Glen Powell will be playing with Amazon MGM Studios' next firefighter film, which will be directed by none other than Ron Howard. Here is the latest info!
Amazon MGM Studios confirmed it: Glen Powell, the Twisters star, will play in a firefighter film – which has not yet had a title – directed by Ron Howard, who knows about fire films, he who signed the classic Backdraft of 1991 (via Deadline). Insneider was the first to announce this project last Monday.
The pitch came from Christina Hodson. The latter's scenario follows disparate childhood friends, who have become elite firefighters, who must return their broken relationship when a series of deadly fires ravage Texas.
The project is produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard And Jeb Brody (via Imagine Entertainment), as well as Dan Cohen and Glen Powell (via Barnstorm). Christina Hodson will ensure the executive production.
Glen Powell continues on its dazzling momentum. After being appointed to the Golden Globe for best actor in a musical/comedy for the comedy of Netflix, Hit Man by Richard Linklater, he will soon be playing the Chad Powers series, which he also co-created and co-written, and is also highly anticipated in Running Man by Edgar Wright, whose release is scheduled for November 5, 2025. Gun: Maverick has also recently completed the shooting of the Huntington revenge thriller, and is currently working on Ghost Writer, the next fantastic thriller by JJ Abrams with Jenna Ortega and Emma Mackey.
Christina Hodson On the other hand, it has gone from the status of development director to that of screenwriter in 2012. Since then, she wrote Bumblebee for Paramount (2018) then Birds of Prey and the fantasy story of Harley Quinn (2020)-which she also co-produced-and The Flash (2023) for Warner Bros. and DC Comics. Among her various projects, she recently co-wrote the scenario of the 11th installment of the Fast & Furious franchise alongside Oren Uziel.
