Sixty-four years after the “Nuremberg judgment” by Stanley Kramer, the famous trial is again adapted to the cinema through a new story. An American release date has been revealed.
This is one of the most important trials in our history. Hold between November 20, 1945 and October 1, 1946, the Nuremberg trial was aimed at judging and punishing 24 of the main officials of the third Reich, all accused of war crimes.
This major event has already been adapted on the big screen in 1961 under the direction of Stanley Kramer. Named 11 times the Oscars, judgment in Nuremberg was carried by an impressive cast: Spencer Tracy, Burt Lancaster, Marlene Dietrich, Maximilian Schell or Judy Garland.
A new film on the subject is about to return to the big screen. Simply entitled Nuremberg, James Vanderbilt's film – Scriptwriter and producer of Zodiac by David Fincher – brings together Russell Crowe, Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Michael Shannon (Man of Steel) or Leo Woodall (The White Lotus).
A new angle on the historic trial
Inspired by Jack El-Hai's book, The Nazi and the Psychiatristpublished in 2013, the feature will follow an American psychiatrist (Rami Malek) responsible for determining whether Nazi prisoners are able to be tried for their war crimes. He finds himself engaged in a fight with Hitler's right arm, Hermann Göring (Russell Crowe).
In the very first shots made available, the Gladiator star appears completely transformed for the needs of her role.
Nuremberg has already been dated November 7 in the United States. A strategic date that could place the film for the next Oscar season. A French release date has not yet been announced yet.
