Only a few days after its release on Netflix, the series “The Forgotten Files” is already leaving the top 10. But do you know the literary saga of which it is adapted?
Jussi Adler-Olsenit is the king of the thriller in Denmark. The author is notably famous for his literary saga The investigations of department V published in 2007, which follows two investigators sidelined and who decide to reopen the file of a case never resolved. In 2020, 18 million copies had already been sold worldwide. And proof of his success, the writer has just published the eleventh volume.
It has been several years since Scott Frank (the lady's game, Godless) is eyeing the novels of Jussi Adler-Olsen:
“There was something special in his books”, he explains to Tudum. “The title, this notion of hidden department, stayed in mind. So I met the author while I was running Stroll between the graves in New York. He told me that he had confidence in me and that he hoped that I get involved as much in writing as to the achievement ”.
It was not until 2023 that Frank began to look at the series adaptation under the title The forgotten files, with the downstream of Netflix. But in the meantime, the novels of Jussi Adler-Olsen have been adapted to the cinema.
Department V Investigations
In 2013, the investigations of the V: Mercy, a Nordic film directed by Mikkel Norgaard and based on the first volume on our screens. Nikolaj Lie Kaas slips into the skin of Carl Mørck while Fares Fares Campe Assad. It is a real success, which will open the door to five other films, the latest of which, the investigations of the V: Promise (2024).
The spectators fell in love with this Scandinavian franchise, carried by deep characters, skinned by life, the dark and cold atmosphere as well as the well -tied intrigue. And it is these same ingredients that we find in the Netflix series available since May 29 which adapts mercy (with certain freedoms). Matthew Goode and Alexej Manvelov are the headliners.
Our criticism.
Forgotten files, to be seen on Netflix.
