“28 years later” by Danny Boyle was released this Wednesday, June 18 in our rooms. Have you seen the movie and the end is questioning? We explain to you!

The infected are back! Twenty-three years after 28 days later and seventeen years after 28 weeks, the creatures of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland are back on the big screen with 28 years later.

In this new part, the fury virus has evolved, affecting its victims differently and by making certain overpowers. The story takes place on the island of Holy Island, isolated by the tides, where a community tries to survive. Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) decides to take his twelve-year-old son, Spike (Alfie Williams), on the continent to teach him the basics of survival and combat.

The young boy discovers for the first what is beyond the island and will try to find the trace of a doctor (Ralph Fiennes) who could help Isla, his sick mother (Jodie Comer).

First part of a new trilogy, 28 years later introduced a new gallery of characters called to become central: alongside Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Alfie Williams, we find Ralph Fiennes (in the role of Doctor Kelson), Edvin Ryding (a Swedish soldier) and Jack O'Connell in the role of Jimmy Crystal. The latter, which we discover at the end of the film only, will play a key role in the second part entitled The Bone Temple, directed by Nia Dacosta.

CAUTION – Spoilers are there!

After her first expedition on the continent with his father, Spike decides to escort her mother so that she meets Dr. Kelson. Along the way, she helps an infected giving birth and takes care of the healthy newborn.

When they meet the doctor, the mother and the son learn that Isla has an incurable cancer. Preferring to leave peacefully, Isla chooses to go out thanks to the drugs. Spike then leaves with the newborn that he takes to the island of Holy Island before leaving to explore the world not without leaving a letter to his father who remained alone.

At the end of the film, Spike is attacked by infected, if he kills with a certain balance, he is then helped by a group led by Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell), a young man in tracksuit and blond hair who wears a gold cross around his neck …

A look that – According to British journalists – Inspired by that of Jimmy Savile, a British television presenter formerly very popular. which was accused, after his death in 2011, of hundreds of sexual assaults.

The real jimmy …

We realize that the little blond boy seen at the start of the film, was not Aaron Taylor-Johnson (also named Jim in the film), but this Jimmy. Since the massacre of his village, Jimmy Crystal has formed his own community of agile and ruthless killers, as evidenced by their acrobatics.

If at first glance the latter looks rather “cool”, things should be turned up on. As proof, the hanged body found by Jim and Spike had Jimmy's first name engraved on the chest and the various inscriptions seen on the walls throughout the film were probably written by his group.

In an interview with Gq Earlier this year, Jack O'Connell spoke of his character: “SIr Lord Jimmy Crystal is his full name. It's a… he's a hell of a asshole. I'm not sure how to describe it yet. But it's an exhilarating role to play, that's for sure. It clearly evolves in a darker area of what I have been able to play before. “

Films connected by the end

All the films of the new trilogy 28 years later are thus connected by their end. We know that if Cillian Murphy – the 28 -day actor later – is absent from this film, he should appear at the end of The Bone Temple And be at the center of the third and last opus that Danny Boyle must make. Note, however, that the shooting of the third and last film is conditioned on the success of this first opus.

Alex Garland also specified at the microphone of Slashfilms during the preview of the feature film that “the scenario of the third part is not yet written”, but that “there is a story, a plan, a structure”.

The end of 28 years later therefore announces the rest of the trilogy. Go to your dark rooms from January 14th to 28 years later: The Bone Temple.
