In 2001, a few months before one of the greatest adventures in the history of cinema began, the public discovered the first trailer of the “Lord of the Rings”.
“The world will change. I see it in the water, I feel it in the ground, I feel it in the air”could have exclaimed Galadriel in 2001, a few months before the cinema release of the ring community.
Indeed, at the dawn of the 2000s, then was looming on the horizon of the calendar the first part of the trilogy promised for a long time by Peter Jackson, the atmosphere was charged with a sort of palpable tension. A subtle adrenaline. A fleeting calm before one of the most majestic storms in the history of cinema is triggered.
The first trailer of the Lord of the Rings
Of course, at that time, no one really knew what to expect, and many spectators who had vaguely heard of Tolkien's work. Others – fans of the first hour – awaited the knife between the teeth to discover the fruit of the insane bet made by this obscure New Zealand director, who had the overhang of measuring himself in one of the greatest monuments of literature.
The big trip to the field of the community was about to start, and despite the doubts and the reserves, some optimistic spirits were to dream that perhaps – why not? – Adaptation is up to the stake.
On May 25, 2001, just before the sessions of Pearl Harbor, in dark rooms, New Line Cinema offered us a very first glimpse of the long -awaited trilogy.

“The most extraordinary story ever told”
A Teaser Trailer of about 2 minutes, carried by an epic musical theme but which still had nothing to do with the score of Howard Shore, as well as by an off voice taking up the famous sentence inscribed on the unique ring, followed by the following words:
“Next Christmas, the most extraordinary story ever told will come to life.”
Illustrated by some fast (but already breathtaking) plans of the community of the ring, the trailer ended by a still non-final logo and by three dates not to be missed under any circumstances: The ring communityChristmas 2001 / Les Deux Tours, Noël 2002 / Le Retour du Roi, Noël 2003.
From then on, the promise was made. The meetings were made, and the public was going to respond present en masse, making the trilogy of Peter Jackson one of the greatest commercial triumphs in the history of cinema. Right.
