23 million copies sold: this very popular fantastic saga will become a film

The successful video games Phasmophobia will be entitled to an adaptation to the cinema thanks to the production company specializing in horror Blumhouse.

For its next outings, the company of producer Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, American Nightmare …) is betting on, but not only! Thus, while the M3gan doll is preparing to come back to terrorize the spectators on June 25 and the first images of Black Phone 2 have just been revealed, it is a video game adaptation that will soon occupy Blumhouse.

After Deadlinethe company will indeed co-produce with Atomic Monster (its subsidiary directed by James Wan) a feature film based on the Game of Horror Pranormal Phasmophobia. Released in 2020 and published by the independent British box Kinetic Games (also producer of the film), this game quickly gained popularity, especially thanks to its promotion by streamers Twitch and Youtubers. It has thus passed over 23 million copies.

Ghost hunters

In this survival game, players embody ghost hunters who explore cities and get engaged to identify and track down different types of ghosts in abandoned places such as houses, schools or even hospitals.

No director is currently attached to the project and it is also too early to know who will slip into the shoes of its ghost hunters but one thing is certain, the horror continues to have the wind in the cinema. And according to a study commissioned by Blumhouse, the sub-genre of the film Paranormal is one of the most popular, with in particular the Survival and the Slasher.

This summer, several horror films will come to make lovers of the genre shush, including M3gan 2, but also 28 years later on June 18 and Dangerous Animals, a terror thriller mixing serial killer and sharks that caused Cannes, expected on July 23.
