What production of the Marvel studios has the seventh place in the ranking of the biggest successes of all time, with almost $ 2 billion in box office revenue?
Marvel productions are generally synonymous with box office success. In 2019, the film Avengers: Endgame even became the biggest success of all time (before the Settled in Avatar cinema allowed it to recover first place in the ranking). Many superheroic franchise films have also managed to exceed one billion dollars in revenue.
In 2021, a film managed to slip into the ranking of the biggest successes of all time with $ 1.9 billion at the international box office. The success of this film was not a surprise, however, since Spider-Man: No Way Home-the third part of the adventures of the araign man embodied by Tom Holland-was particularly expected from fans.
Three Spider-Man for the price of a
This feature film was indeed an ambition to introduce the concept of Marvel multiverse. Thus, Spider-Man is confronted in this film with enemies faced by the character's previous incarnations: Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), Electro (Jamie Foxx), the Green Bouffon (Willem Dafoe), the man-sable (Thomas Haden Church) or the Lézard (Rhys Ifans).
But that's not all, since the main surprise could be kept secret until the film's release (although very insightful fans have guessed it): namely the return of the two previous Spider-Man, embodied respectively by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. It is therefore three different versions of the superhero that appear in this feature film.
We therefore understand why Spider-Man: No Way Home met with such success at the box office. And that gives the next component of the saga the heavy responsibility of succeeding in doing even better. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (who succeeds Jon Watts, the director of the first three), Spider-Man: Brand New Day could thus bring back other iconic characters of the cinematographic multi-aid man.
Spider-Man: No Way Home and its long version will leave the catalog of films available on Netflix from June 14.
